If you want to see me complain about the horrendous performance and user experience of this laptop and Windows 11 on Snapdragon, then watch our review here. Launching Microsoft Edge is fairly decent, but it lags while going into fullscreen on YouTube. Starting Microsoft Whiteboard takes a good 15 seconds or so. The boot times were taking more than a minute. It’s running this list of specs, but it’s still agonizing to use. YouTube is sluggish AFįor all I can say though, the ASUS ExpertBook B3 Detachable has quite bad performance. In short, wasted performance, generates unnecessary heat, which in turn impacts the performance more while also wasting battery life. However, if the translation is poor – then performance is impacted severely. If the translation is fantastic, then the impact is minimal. The performance impact is difficult to gauge, and it also depends on the quality of the translation layer. However, it is commonly referred to as x86 only – and we’ll also call it that. It’s a 32-bit architecture and AMD expanded upon that x86 architecture and made x86-64, which is essentially a 64-bit variant of the original 32-bit x86 architecture. You see, the apps are written for x86 architecture, which was originally developed by Intel. However, third-party apps are the issue – like Google Chrome still doesn’t have native support for Arm on Windows.īut, I can still download Google Chrome on the ASUS ExpertBook B3 Detachable and use it like how I’ll use it on any other laptops – but the performance is hindered significantly. The operating system itself alongside some first-party apps like Microsoft Edge already runs on Arm natively. Technically, I’d say Windows 11 itself is pretty much ready for Arm. This is a tablet with a touchscreen and a detachable keyboard – so it’s pretty similar in idea to the Microsoft Surface but powered by Arm.

As well as recording the whole screen, Record it! can use the Facetime camera to record your face for reaction videos. The screen recording app is surprisingly good considering it's free. What makes it even better is, it's available as a free download from the app store. Record it! is one of the best screen recorders for iOS devices, such as iPhones, iPads, and iPods. However, monthly and annual subscription plans offers unlimited screen capturing and all other tools. The free version of the tool is also little more than a trial - with a severe one-minute recording restriction. Unfortunately, like FlashBack Express, RecExperts offers no meaningful post-production editing tools (you can trim, watermark, and add intros and outros, but not much else). It’s very straightforward, with an interface built for seamless navigation. In addition to capturing your screen (or an area of it) and system sounds (if you select it), RecExperts auto-detects any connected webcams and microphones.īecause of this, you shouldn’t need to fiddle around in the settings to capture everything you need. When we tested out the screen recorder, we highly rated how easy it was to set-up and use. That makes it a good screen capture tool for delivering presentations, webinars, gaming or just quickly showing how to perform a specific task on a computer. Packed with useful features, including a scheduler and GIF creator, the software can capture footage at up to 4K/60fps. You just need to get used to the interface.ĮaseUS RecExperts offers one of the best screen recorders for Windows and Mac. But OBS Studio is free, open-source, and has just about every tool you need to make capture, stream, and create content. So, it's not as intuitive to set up or use as some rivals. It feels like there’s always one too many clicks to get the work done." We also felt the user interface could overwhelm newcomers to the software.ĭuring our review, we wrote: "It’s a bit like you have to wrestle with its way of working, until you capitulate and have to work on its terms. When we tested out the product recently, we thought it was a great tool, though hampered by frustrating design choices and minor glitches. On top of that you get advanced features like noise reduction (for your voiceovers) and the ability to set transitions between your scenes.Īll of this is overkill if you just want to record a quick clip – and to the complete beginner, OBS Studio perhaps isn't the best screen recorder for you. OBS Studio is our pick for best free screen recorder - and with good reason: available on Windows, Linux, and Mac, the screen recording and streaming software lets you effortlessly blend different sources and audio tracks together, packing in professional-grade features typically only found in expensive, premium capture tools.īuilt with gamers in mind, live streaming options feature prominently, but you can just as easily save your recordings to disk. For this reason players should be aware of any laning partner and avoid pairing up with a SWAT or Commando where possible.
The platoon sergeant outlined a plan to move Block to a different squad and should Norris have any business with her, he should consult his chain of command. Block are having an inappropriate relationship, then you are.” You’re a noncommissioned officer, you know as well as I do that perception is reality and if it is perceived that you and Spc. The perception is that you are having an inappropriate relationship with her. “Staff sergeants don’t hang out with specialists. Block have been seen by senior leaders in the company late at night talking alone,” wrote the platoon sergeant, whose name has been redacted from the report. “It has been brought to my attention that you and Spc. It was three days later when it happened,” he said.Ī partially redacted document in the criminal investigation report obtained by the Block family states Norris was counseled in July by his platoon sergeant about the perception among members of the unit that there was a relationship between he and Block. “I was told he didn’t know anything about it, but he would look into it. Rattigan said he mentioned the volatile situation to Block’s platoon sergeant. “I didn’t know it was at the level of him murdering her, but I was worried he was going to snap one day and hit her,” he said. Rattigan had known Block from their time serving in Korea, and he always felt a need to look out for her. At night, Rattigan and Block would hang out with other soldiers, but “when we got to that subject, she didn’t want to talk about it because she felt like she was trapped.” “She said he never beat her per se, but he was physical,” said James Rattigan, a friend of Block’s deployed to the same Iraq base as a sergeant with the 57th Military Police Company. Some soldiers and family members close to Block continue to re-examine the days leading up to her death and search for any warning signs that they might have missed. Over time, he looped Block and Norris’s deaths in with the unit’s combat deaths, he said. Womack said there was “an uncomfortable comfortability” with all of it. The unit was in Iraq for another year, and more soldiers died. “Looking back, it’s eerie how little it was discussed.” “There was no more mention of it,” said David Womack, a now retired sergeant who served in Block’s platoon during that deployment. He’d already shot Block five times in the head and chest, the report stated.Ī written statement from a medic on the scene describes the lifesaving measures performed on Block, but that Norris was immediately presumed dead.Īfterward, Block’s photo was placed on a memorial wall on base and a service was held. Norris pointed his pistol at Jennings, but then turned his gun and shot himself in the head. She left, but opened the door when she heard gunshots. The roommate’s name was redacted from the report summarizing the shooting, but she was identified in a 2009 article in Maxim magazine as Spc. The day of the murder, Norris entered into Block’s housing unit and ordered her roommate to leave, according to a law enforcement report. But once they arrived in Iraq, the relationship became volatile and Block wanted out, Shonta Block said. Nonetheless, their relationship blossomed at Fort Hood. Because of his higher rank and because Norris was separated, but still married, a relationship between the two was outlawed under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Kamisha Block and Norris were members of the 401st Military Police Company, deployed to Iraq from Fort Hood, Texas. “I said, ‘Oh my God, thank you.’ I couldn’t stop saying it. “I was on a job painting a door,” Shonta Block said about the call. In August, Shonta Block, who works with a remodeling company, said they finally got a glimmer of hope when a phone call from the Inspector General of the Army Criminal Investigation Command informed her that the investigation into her sister’s death was reopened. She’s called the Department of Justice and taken the family’s only copy of the heavily redacted report to the FBI in hope that someone will help her. In the nearly 12 years since Kamisha Block’s death, the family has worked with their elected officials to get more information and met with Army officials, but none of it, so far, has led to holding anyone accountable, she said. The rest of it stunk,” said Shonta Block, 30. “I think the only part that is right in the report is the killing part. Paul Brandon Norris, who then turned his weapon on himself. The family learned while she was deployed at Camp Liberty, Iraq, the 20-year-old soldier was shot to death by her 30-year-old boyfriend, Staff Sgt. Shonta Block said family members have questioned the Army about her sister, waiting six months to get the report on her Aug. “It’s just lie after lie after lie after lie,” said Shonta Block, Kamisha’s sister. But Ross and Blackwell, ever self-aware, make their upgraded sound part of the joke. It’s common to the point of cliché to have a big-name producer arrive midway through a band’s career, sand down all the lo-fi edges, and replace them with studio gimmickry. Where the group’s previous albums were self-produced, Eggland brings in Dave Fridmann, known for helping the Flaming Lips and Tame Impala scale up their psychedelia to arena levels. Or, in Ross’ own words: “It kind of sounds like a chip shop on fire.” Credit, in part, a change in personnel. Over the years, they’ve gotten steadily heavier, from their early acoustic style to the likes of 2015’s “ Magic Onion,” eventually settling on a sound that evokes psychedelic-punk touchstones like the Buzzcocks and some of the hooky, madcap glee of Charly Bliss. This Is Eggland, the Lovely Eggs’ fifth album, befits its name-it’s as good an introduction as you’ll get to the group and its charmingly skewed perspective on the world. Representative tracks from the duo’s catalog include “ Have You Ever Heard a Digital Accordion,” which features no notable digital accordion content “ Fuck It,” surely the most languid song that has been or ever will be recorded by that title and the raucous, exhaustive bestiary of owns that is “ Don’t Look At Me (I Don’t Like It).” Ever thought about someone’s “sausage-roll thumb” or “washing-line smile”? You have now. Looking forward to it.Angelica’s Holly Ross went on to form the Lovely Eggs with her husband David Blackwell, formerly of the psychedelic band Three Dimensional Tanx, circa 2006, and over the past decade they’ve taken that sense of humor gonzo to cult acclaim. There’s no new material in the set tonight and no mention of it either, but they’ve had a couple of years kicking their heels so I don’t think it’ll be long before they’re back. Closing the show this evening by hammering through a couple of This Is Eggland tunes ‘I’m With You’ and a particularly fierce ‘Return of Witchcraft’ and they’re gone. “I wanna masticate with you, I wanna watch while you chew” still a hilarious opening line but it harks back to an earlier version of the band who are steadily moving away from their quirkier moments into something a little darker and angrier. In the old-classic-near-the-end spot tonight we get a joyously scrappy romp through ‘Food’. The majority of the set comes from the last couple of albums and the toughening of their sound experienced there gets pushed a little further live Holly’s guitar at times is a surprisingly thick, deep roar. It’s a credit to their charm and the character of their audience that this works although it’s unlikely to become a feature of the tour as afterwards they realise, “it’s like a funeral and we’re the corpse”.įar from being a funeral it’s now a proper party, and they bash through a great ‘You Can Go Now’ and into the final stretch. They play ‘Fuck It’ and we get on board, shuffling around across the front of the stage and back to roughly where we started, joining in for a jolly sing-a-long to the chorus. Holly takes a moment to reflect that “we’re getting more and more lasses down the front these days… I love it” and then suggests we all move around like a sushi bar so everyone gets to come down the front for a bit. By now band and crowd are all enjoying each other’s company. ‘Long Stem Carnations’ loses it’s long outro running straight into a killer ‘Wiggy Giggy’. For ‘You’ve Got The Ball’ Holly kicks a football out to bounce around the crowd which goes off with good humour despite the low ceiling. They say their hellos and play ‘Magic Onion’, the room relaxes a bit more and everyone starts to get into it. It later emerges this is the result of teething problems with a new pedal David has made for her that looks on when it’s off and vice-versa. As part of integrating their widening sound-world Holly’s voice has a weird slightly too heavy effect on it. Back then we thought covid would just be a few months, tops, I thought everyone would get to know the songs and when the tour happened it’d be great, but gigs have been back a while now and the initial response from the crowd is slightly stunned and inert. Two long years that this show has been kicked down the road and rescheduled. It’s been two years since the album came out. The Lovely Eggs hit the stage with little fanfare, blasting straight through four tunes from their last album I Am Moron before stopping for breath. If only I could combine my favorite features of every editor in one! But with the availability of this converter for very affordable $30 (I must say very worth it!), I might go back to using Lightroom more-we'll see. I usually use Nik from Photshop Elements interface.Īnyway, I'd say that the results in terms of resolution and sharpening are a wash between Iridient and PhotoNinja in my limited testing so far-this is my first evening with Iridient, but I will use it more in the coming weeks, and I've been using PhotoNinja for a year. So far, I all but abandoned Lightroom for Fuji files and have been quite happy with PhotoNinja and SilkyPix DS7 Pro + free Nik suite for stuff like tonal contrast enhancer (wonderful tool!) and dfine noise reduction as needed. This is my first time ever trying out Iridient, because I don't have a Mac. So there might be some triple-level sharpening: once in Iridient X-Transofrmer, once in Lightroom settings, once when exporting to JPEG (say, if you use Sharpen for Screen option). Watch out for the sharpening: Adobe does default sharpening, and your converted files will have some sharpening already applied to them in the conversion process, as you specify. I like that when importing the resulting DNG files into Lightroom, built-in Fuji film simulations work! So you can still apply, say, Classic Chrome to the result. Works very similar to the free Adobe DNG converter but with more customization options (such as default sharpening level, default corrections, bit depth, etc., etc.) Schwartz is Jewish, and was raised in Conservative Judaism, observing all the Jewish holidays. Geoff formerly attended William Penn Academy. Evelyn tends to be seen as an enemy towards Erica, as she finds her as a threat. Their relationship ends when Evelyn finds out about Geoff cheating on her with Erica after she catches them kissing. Evelyn and Geoff are a close couple however, Evelyn seems to be extremely clingy and almost smothering towards Geoff throughout their relationship. Throughout Season 4 of the show, Evelyn and Geoff are dating and seem to be in love however, Geoff still has feelings for Erica as well. In Dinner with the Goldbergs, Geoff gets fed up with the family and yells at Barry, as well as the other Goldbergs. They are shown to have somewhat of a brotherly bond with one another, and Geoff has been shown to care about Barry in many episodes. Like Barry, Geoff is a member of the JTP. However, after a summer of following the Grateful Dead and starting a failed business venture (" Food in a Geoffy"), he decides to enroll in college full time and secretly moves into Erica's dorm room. She is relieved to find out that he just wanted to tell her that he has decided to take a gap year and won't be attending college when she does. In Vacation, Erica is preparing to return to college and Geoff tells her that he wants to tell her something important when the family returns from vacation, and Erica is worried that he is going to break up with her. However, at the school prom in A Night to Remember, after trying to be each other's date for prom, they realize their attraction to one another and officially begin dating again, with the timing being right for the first time.ĭue to Erica moving to college in Season 5, she and Geoff end up trying a long-distance relationship, and despite initial issues (such as in Goldberg on the Goldbergs) they are able to stay together. Erica and Geoff both feel bad for sneaking around and terminate their brief relationship so they can take things slow, devastating Erica. Yet in The Kara-te Kid, Evy catches them kissing and is shown to be seriously hurt by what has happened. In So Swayze It's Crazy, Geoff finds out that Erica likes him, and after initial shock and confusion the two embrace and finally get together. Nonetheless, Geoff is still very friendly to Erica during this time, regardless of the fact that Erica often humiliates herself due to her feelings, such as in George! George Glass! or Stevie King. Unfortunately, when she decides to tell him about her feelings, she learns that Geoff has finally moved on, and is now dating Evelyn Silver.ĭuring the first two thirds of Season 4, Erica is obsessed with Geoff, though he is completely oblivious to her feelings (unlike Evy, who sees her as a threat). She initially sees this as desperate and pathetic, but later comes to find it sweet and charming and realizes that she does in fact have feelings for him. Despite the fact that she had brutally rejected him several times and was adamant about not dating him, Geoff makes a mixtape for Erica in Have a Summer. She just wanted to remain friends, though she did have a bit of compassion for him. He tried multiple times to get her to like him, and she found this annoying, and as a result never reciprocated his feelings despite all of his efforts. Originally, Geoff had a huge crush on Erica and had since the second grade. Love geometric fonts? Check out this stylish sans serif typeface.
